Lil Nas X kicked off a new era with his single “LIGHT AGAIN!” and it’s shaping up to be his most authentic to date.

“You know I gotta catch my flight / You know I gotta reach new heights again / You know we run it up at night / You know we only get one life for this,” Lil Nas X proclaims over a bouncy production.

The accompanying visual, directed by Andrew Donoho, is a hazy and joyful affair with the rapper in the middle of a raucous party.

Lil Nas X took to social media before dropping the song to announce that he was leaving behind fears of being called a “flop.”

“for so long ive tried to make every song get as much attention as possible. due to my fear of everyone saying im a flop or feeling like less,” he admitted on X (formerly Twitter). “but this time around im choosing my vision. do i hope my songs do well? YESS but they are coming regardless and im standing behind them !!”

If you missed it, Lil Nas X recently hit back at another musician who claimed that he “fell off so hard.”
