A clash at the top to round off this 3rd day of Ligue 1. This Sunday, Lille hosted Paris Saint-Germain at the Pierre-Mauroy stadium. In this duel between two teams qualified for the Champions League, Parisians and Lillois intended to capitalize on their last two victories to take the three points and steal the show from OM, currently installed in the leader’s chair. Recording the return of Angel Gomes, victim of a terrible shock against Reims, LOSC presented itself in 4-3-3 with Bayo at the forefront, preferred to David. With Pacho and Beraldo starting in defense, the capital club relied on an attacking trio composed of Dembélé, Asensio and Barcola. If the two teams traded blows during the first ten minutes, it was LOSC who had the first big opportunity of the evening. Ideally served by Zhegrova, who did a lot of work on the right side, Diakité sent the ball onto Donnarumma’s post before he grabbed it in no time (13th). Heckled by a determined and forward-moving Lille team, the reigning French champions gradually got back on track. Relying on a Dembélé on fire in his corridor, PSG caused misery for the Lille rearguard. Forced into error by a hook from the French international, Alexsandro committed the irreparable in his area and Vitinha took charge of punishing the Dogues to open the scoring (0-1, 31st). Lethal, PSG put the nail in the coffin three minutes later on a well-led counter-attack concluded by Barcola. Having started behind the defence, the Parisian beat Chevalier with his right foot to score his 4th goal in Ligue 1 this season (0-2, 36th).

A well-deserved advantage at half-time for the Parisians, saved by Donnarumma, who saved Tiago Santos (41st) and who could have conceded a penalty in a contentious situation involving Beraldo and the Lille full-back (42nd). After the break, Lille gave themselves the means to react. Coming into play at half-time, Sahraoui combined in the Parisian area with Tiago Santos before passing to Bayo. On the back foot, the former Le Havre player sent the ball wide (48th). Driven by the desire to get this second half going by setting the pace and multiplying attacks, the Dogues nevertheless flirted with the KO. Fortunately for Mandi and his ilk, Chevalier kept an eye on things to get in front of Asensio (53rd) then Barcola, who nevertheless had a festival in the northern area, like his little bridge over Diakité (54th). After the hour mark, PSG regained control of the game by confiscating the ball. In order to break the Parisian momentum, Bruno Genesio used up his last ammunition by launching David onto the pitch, with whom the capital club has had rather good success in recent years (4 goals in Ligue 1 against PSG). If we thought then that the light would come from the Canadian, it was Zhegrova who came out of the woodwork to revive her team. A man of all dangers on the Lille side, the Kosovar tried his luck from outside the area and left Donnarumma helpless (1-2, 78th). Back in the game, LOSC came very close to frustrating PSG at the moment when Tiago Santos thought he had equalized before the VAR disallowed his goal for an offside position (82nd). Wavering at the end of the match, PSG was able to count on a header from Kolo Muani in the money time to definitively knock out LOSC (90th + 3). With this result, PSG takes sole control of the championship while Lille remains in 6th place.
