Lille revives in Reims

Paulo Fonseca’s LOSC got back on track by beating Reims on home soil (1-0).

Dominated by Toulouse last week, Lille regained momentum this Saturday by taking the 3 points put into play during their opposition against Reims. The victory was not easy to validate, but the essential is assured.

To win, the Mastiffs needed a helping hand from Yunis Abdelhamid. Ten minutes after the restart, the Moroccan defender made a missed pass towards his goalkeeper. The tireless Jonathan David took advantage of this offering by pushing the leather into the empty goals.

Lille held firm behind

After this twist of fate, the Champenois tried to come back to the score. But the Northerners and their excellent goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier held on until the end. The latter notably repelled a shot from Ito just before the gong. Ivorian Oumar Diakité also missed a nice equalizer for the locals at the start of added time.

This forceps success does Lille a lot of good. It allows him to temporarily go back to 4e place in the ranking, one point from the podium. Qualification for the next C1 therefore remains within the reach of the Mastiffs. Reims, for its part, remains 8e. Will Still’s team is starting to seriously mark time, despite a game that is far from disappointing.
