Lisa Marie Presley’s posthumous memoir, “From Here to the Great Unknown,” details the most intimate parts of her life — including getting pregnant with her daughter Riley Keough.
After having an abortion — which she called “the stupidest thing I’ve ever done” — the late singer admitted she “planned and plotted and schemed” to make sure she was ovulating when she joined then-boyfriend Danny Keough on a cruise ship where his band was performing.
“I didn’t care if he wanted to be a part of it or not. I felt that I had to redeem, to make amends, because I still couldn’t believe I had had an abortion,” Presley wrote, per People.
“I thought, I’m going to have this child. There is a child I need to be having.”

Two weeks later, Presley learned she was pregnant with Riley, who was born in May 1989.
In her memoir, the daughter of Elvis Presley admitted that she “trapped” Danny with the pregnancy, writing, “I didn’t really mean to, but I did.”

The pair also shared son Benjamin Storm Keough, who was born in 1992. He tragically died in July 2020.
Riley, now 35, said in September that Lisa Marie — who passed away from surgery complications in January 2023 — died of a “broken heart” following the loss of her son.

Lisa Marie was also mother to twin daughters Harper and Finley Lockwood, now 16, whom she shared with her fourth husband, Michael Lockwood.
The late musician was also previously married to Michael Jackson from 1994 to 1996 and Nicolas Cage from 2002 to 2004.
She did not welcome children with either of them.

“From Here to the Great Unknown,” which was released Tuesday, was co-authored by Riley who transcribed hours of tapes left behind by her mom, Lisa Marie.
