The life wish of every reasonable parent is to be buried by their children in old age, and not the other way round. Unfortunately, for some prominent Nigerian parent, this has not been the case, as harsh realities of life state otherwise, casting a heavy burden as it leads them to bury their own children.
Understandably, death is inevitable, but when it comes untimely, it becomes devastating to those whose loved ones were snatched out of nowhere.
For these prominent Nigerians, including some Nollywood actors, the loss of their children was a heartbreaking case. In this article, we will be looking at some Nigerian celebrities and elite who recently lost a child.
Francis Duru
A veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru, in August of this year expressed grief at the death of his son, Ifeanyi.
The actor announced the news in an Instagram post describing Ifeanyi as a “champ” and a “lion” who battled heroically.
He wrote, “My champ! My lion, you fought like a lion. If this is the way He wants it, so be it, I still judge you faithful. Ifeanyi, my champ. I will miss you, son. I will forever love you. Rest in peace, son, rest. I give you thanks, Lord!”
Jerry Amilo
Nollywood actor, Jerry Amilo, on Thursday, October, 10th bid farewell to daughter, Chidera, who passed away on October 4. The veteran actor, in a touching Instagram post, expressed his heartbreak over her sudden death, describing how it left him “speechless” and feeling like she took “a part of me” with her.
”You took a part of me with you. I’m so speechless” he wrote, pouring out his sorrow. In another post, he posted a photo of him dressed in black standing in front of his daughter’s coffin.
He captioned the post, Goodnight my angel. May your soul rest in perfect peace amen,” he penned.
Saidi Balogun
Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun announced his daughter Zeenat’s death on his Instagram page, on Saturday 5th October after sharing a solemn image of candlelight surrounded by flowers and heartbroken emojis.
Reacting to the sad news, colleagues of the actor, including Ronke Oshodi Oke and his former wife, Fathia Williams, confirmed Zeenat’s death.
Fathia wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un”, while Ronke wrote: “No words can ease the pain of losing someone so precious. During this incredibly difficult time, my heart goes out to you, Saidi Balogun. May you find strength in the love and support surrounding you.”
As of press time, the cause of Zeenat’s death remains unknown
Mele Kyari
The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari announced the death of his daughter, Fatima on Friday.
According to reports, Fatima was age of 25 before her sudden demise.
TheNewsGuru.com(TNG) learnt that Vice-President Kashim Shettima led other mourners to attend the funeral prayers for the deceased at the Annur mosque in Abuja, the country’s capital.
