Once again this season, Liverpool were able to count on Mohamed Salah to take on the role of savior. Thanks to his decisive double against Southampton (3-2) this Sunday in the Premier League, the Egyptian striker allowed the Reds to avoid the trap set by the Saints. With this victory, the Mersey club, at the top of the ranking, is now eight points ahead of its first pursuer, Manchester City.
However, a shadow continues to hang over Salah’s future at Anfield. At the end of the contract next June, its extension, ardently hoped for by supporters, remains pending. Worse still, the main interested party recently declared that a departure at the end of the season was far from being ruled out.
Salah drops a bomb
“Any news for my future?” Well, it’s almost December and I haven’t received any offers to stay here at the club. I’m probably closer to leaving than extending, so… What if I want to stay? You know, I have been at the club for many years… I have never known such a club. But in the end, it’s not in my hands. As I said before, it’s almost December and I haven’t had a single offer for my future.”said the 32-year-old right winger to journalists.
Despite this frustrating situation, Salah remains focused on his goals with Liverpool, including winning the Premier League and the Champions League once again in the red jersey.
“What if I’m disappointed that I didn’t get an offer? Of course, yes. What if I told the club about it? I’m not going to retire, so I’m just playing. I am focused on the season and I want to win the Premier League, but also the Champions League. But yes, it’s a disappointment, we’ll see”he added.
