Liverpool edging closer to Inacio

The Sporting CP central defender has been watched by the Reds for a while, and now they have the opportunity to finally sign him, according to Sports Zone (via Sport Witness).

With a 60 million euro (£51.3 million) release clause in his contract, Inacio has been offered to the Merseysiders by the Lions.

One of the top centre backs in the Primeira Liga, the 22-year-old has been outstanding for Sporting, who are now leading the standings in their league.

Manager Ruben Amorim has found great success with Inacio, and the Portuguese coach is a strong contender to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

After Xabi Alonso’s decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, the Sporting manager is one of the favourites to take over at Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag wants the defender at Manchester United in the summer, while Arsenal were one of the teams interest in him.

Liverpool likely to beat competition for the defender

The centre-back is reportedly linked to many other teams, including Real Madrid. The Sporting CP player is being seriously pursued by Liverpool, who currently seem to be in the lead for the €60 million-rated Portuguese international.

If Amorim does decide to sign with the Reds, it’s safe to say that the Anfield team will be the front-runner to get the defender’s services.

The young player has so far made six appearances for the senior national team, contributing to their five straight clean sheets.

He could take Joel Matip’s place in the team, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
