Wolves youngster Alvin Ayman is close to joining Liverpool, marking their first acquisition since the summer transfer window opened.

The Daily Mail claims that Ayman, who can play as a centre-back or in the midfield, is close to signing with Liverpool.

Ayman, 16, enjoyed his first Premier League matchday last month when he traveled with the Wolves first team for their away game against Manchester City.

The 16-year-old moved to Molineux Stadium last summer after coming through Bradford City’s youth system.

The young player participated in a few games for the West Midlands club’s U21 squad last season in addition to playing for the U18 squad.

In the U18 Premier League North, Ayman was instrumental in Wolves’ triumph over Liverpool, and it’s possible that the defender’s performance in that match inspired the Reds to recruit him.

The young player will initially develop his skills at the academy before perhaps moving up should he finally join the team, so he is unlikely to be joining the Reds’ senior squad right away.

Liverpool are close to completing the signing of Wolves youngster Alvin Ayman.

Ayman represented Wolves’ under-17 team in South Korea at the first-ever International Youth Cup of the K League.

In addition, he gained international prominence with England, when he was selected as a reserve for the under-17 squad the previous season.

Liverpool are keen to recruit the best young talent

His potential signing shows Liverpool’s wider approach of not only spending on ready made players for the first team but also investing in young talent.

The Reds have seen a number of young players rise at the club and make their way to the first team.

The Liverpool chiefs, including the new manager, are keen to recruit the best talent at Anfield and their plan to sign Ayman shows they want the best available players at all levels of the club.

The Reds would be hoping that in a few years, Ayman can make the move to the senior team.
