Liverpool were reportedly keen on signing Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo Goes from Real Madrid.

According to TBR Football, they held talks with the Spanish giants regarding the two players.

The report states that Liverpool spoke to the Spanish club about signing the two players but they did not come forward with an official offer. Real Madrid made it clear to the English club that the two players were not for sale and the Reds had to abandon their pursuit.

Tchouameni was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool during his time at Monaco. The Reds were keen to secure his services back then but the player opted to join Real Madrid instead.

Although he has not been a regular starter for them, he remains a key part of their plans going forward and he could develop into a world-class defensive midfielder for them in the long term.

There is no doubt that the French international is a phenomenal talent with a bright future. Liverpool could use a quality defensive midfielder like him. They have struggled in that department since the departure of Fabinho and it remains to be seen whether they can bring someone in.

Liverpool tried to sign Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window but the Spanish international opted to stay in La Liga instead.

 Rodrygo to Liverpool?

Liverpool could use Rodrygo

Meanwhile, they could use a dynamic forward like Rodrygo as well. The Brazilian is capable of operating anywhere across the front three and he would have added goals and assists to the side.

With Darwin Nunez struggling to score goals consistently and Diogo Jota prone to injuries, Liverpool could have used another quality forward like him.

However, both players are winning major trophies with Real Madrid and it is highly unlikely that they will want to leave the Spanish club anytime soon.

Liverpool have brought in Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa this summer. It has been an underwhelming window for them and they should have signed a quality central defender and defensive midfielder as well. It will be interesting to see if they can address their weaknesses when the transfer window reopens in January.
