A Liverpool fan has been arrested after the Manchester United team bus was damaged when a bottle was thrown at it before a scoreless draw at Anfield.

The 23-year-old male, from Everton, has been released under investigation following his bottle-throwing incident on 17 December, as per BBC.

A video circulated on social media appearing to show a Liverpool fan filming themselves (wise guy!) next to the team bus before aiming a bottle of Kopparberg cider at the vehicle.

Liverpool were quick to condemn the attack on the bus, but sadly their fans have done this before as team buses make their way along Anfield Road. For example, in 2018, Man City’s bus was attached before their Champions League quarter-final against Liverpool.

A Liverpool spokesman said at the time (via Sky News): “Liverpool Football Club utterly condemns the actions that led to damage being caused to the Manchester United team bus during its arrival at Anfield this afternoon.

“We are aware of footage of the incident circulating online and are working with Merseyside Police, to fully investigate and identify those responsible.

“Any individuals found guilty of this reprehensible behaviour will also face the full force of the club’s sanction process.”

Their fans line the streets and some of them think it’s a good idea to throw bottles in a public area. The really stupid ones record themselves committing the crime!
