Liverpool are in the running to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro who is being called Virgil Van Dijk’s potential successor at the club.
Le Parisien claims that Liverpool have entered the race to sign the talented young defender Yoro during the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are both interested in signing the 18-year-old French defender, who is in high demand.
The young player will be difficult to sign for the Premier League team since Lille are expected to seek a substantial transfer fee of between €90 million and €100 million (£77 million to £85 million).
The 18-year-old has been compared to fellow countryman Raphael Varane and is regarded as one of the top young defenders in Europe.
The Merseyside club see Yoro as Van Dijk’s long term successor at Anfield.
The Dutch defender is facing an uncertain future at Liverpool, with his contract expiring next year.
If he does not extend his contract in the near future, by the start of next year, he will be allowed to enter talks with clubs for a move away from Anfield.
Leny Yoro to Liverpool?
Jurgen Klopp’s departure has thrown the future of a number of Liverpool players in doubt.
Along with Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are also entering the final year of their contract at the club.
Liverpool need a new defender this summer
Yoro made 44 appearances in all competitions for his team last season, who finished fourth in Ligue 1 and managed to qualify for the Champions League next season.
The young defender is known for his technical skills and maturity at such a young age.
He has a bright future ahead of him and with his age, there is still a lot to learn.
The Merseyside club will find it difficult to sign him considering both Real Madrid and PSG are interested in his services.
