Liverpool are reportedly mulling over a surprise pursuit of on-loan Manchester United midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

Barring any world-class, jaw-dropping performances from now until the end of the campaign, the Moroccan international will be returning to Fiorentina this summer after what can only be described as a lacklustre spell.

He has made just 13 starts across all competitions thus far, ranking behind Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen in the pecking order. Therefore, it’ll be a no-brainer when it comes to United having to decide whether they want to activate his buy clause.

Reports in recent months have suggested that Amrabat’s parent club harbour concerns that his underwhelming performances will lead to his transfer value being lowered.

As such, Fichajes claims that Liverpool are among the 27-year-old’s potential suitors when he bids farewell to Old Trafford this June.

Their injury crisis has led to Jurgen Klopp dipping into the reserves to promote several youngsters for coverage, and as they plan for life without the German coach, experienced depth across the squad – like Amrabat – may help them navigate the forthcoming transition period.
