Liverpool are already planning for life without Jurgen Klopp and in their process, they are identifying signings for next season.

The Merseyside club, currently leading the Premier League standings ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City, are looking to add more firepower to their squad.

With a new manager joining the club at the end of the season, they are ready to give him the best possible resources to replicate the success of Klopp.

El Debate in Spain claims that the Reds are fixated with Real Madrid’s midfielder Federico Valverde.

After becoming a regular in the Madrid squad, Klopp wanted him for Liverpool and that interest still remains in the player.

Liverpool have made a big money offer

The fascinating addition made by El Debate is that Liverpool have made an offer to sign Valverde worth €150 million (£129 million), which is still on the table.

The Reds have failed in the past in their move to sign current Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham when he was at Borussia Dortmund.

They are now eyeing a move for Bellingham’s teammate at the Santiago Bernabeu.

In many ways, Valverde appears to be Liverpool’s ideal transfer target.

For any player, €150 million is a substantial sum of money. However, Valverde has long been an essential member of this Real Madrid squad.

With him about to hit his peak, it would not be ideal for the Spanish club to let him go at this stage.

But if Liverpool’s rumoured bid is approved, the Reds will surpass their club record transfer fee, which is currently set at £75 million they paid for Virgil van Dijk in January 2018.

The midfielder has no plans to join Liverpool

The midfield player’s long-term extensions at Real Madrid speak much about his desire to stay with La Liga leaders.

The Liverpool midfield has gone through a makeover in the last summer with the Reds signing Wataru Endo, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Should they sign Valverde, he would become a part of the midfield that has all the attributes that a top club needs to become successful.
