Liverpool have joined Spanish giants Real Madrid in the race to sign Lille defender Leny Yoro.
The 18-year-old centre-half has emerged as one of Ligue 1’s breakout talents this season, catching the attention of numerous elite teams around Europe.

Liverpool have entered the race for Yoro
According to MARCA (h/t 90 Min), Liverpool and Real Madrid are prepared to compete for the signing of Lille’s Leny Yoro.
The Reds are looking to sign a defender in the summer transfer window and they could make a move for the young French defender.
French prodigy is expected to cost around £51 million, according to the report. The rumour also states that Chelsea are vying for Yoro’s signature, which would intensify the competition for the young talent.
Leny Yoro in action for LilleYoro, who is only 18 years old, has established himself as Lille’s defensive stalwart. He has participated in 35 games in all competitions, scoring three goals along the way.
The centre-back is the preferred choice as Real Madrid’s lack of depth in defense has been clear to see this season, making it a critical position to strengthen in the summer.
La Liga leaders are favourite to sign Liverpool target
Real Madrid are probably going to have an advantage over the other teams vying for Yoro’s services, despite the growing competition.
This is due to the 18-year-old defensive prospect’s preference to move to Santiago Bernabeu.
The Spanish giants are hesitant to pay over the odds for Yoro since his contract ends in 2025, which might cause problems later on when Lille demand a higher price.
Thus, it remains to be seen where the 18-year-old ends up in the summer.
