Luis Diaz is in line for a shock Liverpool exit this summer if the Reds are able to persuade Mohamed Salah to sign a new deal.

The Colombia international joined the Merseyside club just over two years ago and has been an integral part of Jurgen Klopp’s forward line.

After a slow start to the season, Diaz has begun to capture his best form in recent weeks but his Anfield future is uncertain, according to The Sun.

While Liverpool’s main priority is to secure Klopp’s successor, the futures of Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are of almost equal importance.

That trio of club stalwarts all have just over 12 months remaining on their contracts and Klopp’s eventual replacement would almost certainly wish to retain their services.

Salah’s compatriot, the former Spurs striker Mido, on Thursday claimed a deal was already in place for the 31-year-old to join the Saudi Pro League.

Van Dijk, too, threw his future into a measure of doubt last month by claiming he could follow Klopp out of the Anfield exit door, before later rowing back on those comments.

The astronomical cost of keeping Salah, in particular, could force Liverpool into cashing in on Diaz, who is understood to have suitors in Spain.

While Diaz has been a mainstay in the side since his return to fitness, senior Liverpool figures are understood to have great faith in an emerging crop of youngsters.

Jayden Danns followed up his Carabao Cup final cameo with two goals in Liverpool’s midweek win over Southampton in the FA Cup, while Harvey Elliot, 20, has already played over 100 games for the club.

Liverpool, meanwhile, can only accelerate negotiations with players in precarious contractual situations once a new sporting director is in place.

To that end, the club have made a renewed effort to convince Michael Edwards to make an Anfield.return in the summer.

Xabi Alonso, meanwhile, remains the favourite to take over as manager in the summer but he maintains that his current focus for now remains on securing an unlikely Bundesliga title for Bayer Leverkusen.
