Now that the January transfer window has arrived, Premier League leaders Liverpool are looking to make changes to their squad.

The Reds are flying this season under Arne Slot and they have managed to cement their place at the top of the Premier League and the Champions League standings.

Slot has turned around the fortunes of the Merseyside club and his arrival has translated into some of the Liverpool players playing the best football of their career.

However, there are still some who are struggling to perform this season. The likes of Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa have struggled a lot this season.

The Premier League giants are already monitoring their options in the market to replace Nunez at the club while Chiesa could be allowed to leave this month for a move back to Italy.

According to TBR Football, Liverpool boss Slot is open to the idea of Chiesa leaving the club this month.

Although Slot is an admirer of Chiesa, he is ready to let the player leave the club for more playing time and better opportunities.

The Italian has been linked with a move to Serie A and as per the report, his entourage have contacted the Merseyside club about allowing Chiesa to leave the club.

The former Juventus man is worried about his lack of game time at Anfield despite the fact that he knows others are ahead of him in the pecking order and that they cannot be dropped.

Serie A clubs Napoli, Roma, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Atalanta and Fiorentina are all interested in signing the Liverpool star but only if they can cover the majority of his wages.

The 27-year-old has faced fitness issues at the club and his struggle to settle to life in England has played a huge role in his move not working at Anfield.

It would be better for him to get playing time away from Anfield and one of the Italian clubs can easily provide that.

It would give the Liverpool star the opportunity to return back to home and resume his career in a league he is familiar with.
