Liverpool have been tipped to replace Mohamed Salah with Premier League star Bryan Mbuemo should the Egyptian leave Anfield at the end of the season.

Salah has enjoyed an electric start to the season under Slot, scoring twice in a 3-2 win over Southampton last weekend to make it 10 goals in just 12 Premier League games.

Despite that, the Eygyptain faces an uncertain future at Anfield with just over six months remaining on his current deal.

That uncertainty only intensified on the weekend when the 32-year-old revealed he is still yet to receive an offer of a new deal from the club.

With Salah free to speak to clubs outside of England about a free transfer next summer when the winter window opens in January, Liverpool may soon be forced to think about replacements for their prized attacking asset.

And former Reds striker Emile Heskey believes the club should look for value within the market, earmarking Mbeumo as an all-round talent who could excel at a big club.

The Cameroonian has already scored eight league goals so far this season having joined Brentford from French club Troyes in 2019.

‘Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo is a player I like a lot,’ Heskey told FourFourTwo.

‘He’s fantastic on the ball, can beat a man and he scores a lot of goals for a team that doesn’t compete right at the top end of the league. In a top side, he could score loads of goals.

Heskey continued: ‘It’s difficult with Mo Salah because who else is giving you those numbers?

‘We want more from Mo at times, but when someone is giving you 20 goals a season, pretty much every season, with 30-plus goal contributions, it’s something special.

‘Nobody else in the league is giving you those numbers, in terms of both goals and assists. So Liverpool have a huge job on their hands in finding someone who can replace Salah when he leaves – whenever that might be.

‘I don’t think there is another player in the league that can give you what he does. In terms of pure quality, Liverpool already have a brilliant player who can step into Salah’s limelight in Luis Diaz but even he isn’t posting those kinds of stats every season.

‘He’s an exciting player but he’ll need to add more goals if he’s to help fill that void.’
