Affected by incurable pancreatic cancer, which should give him, at best, a year to live as he revealed at the beginning of the month, former England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was offered the job of Liverpool coach by Jürgen Klopp. Present at a press conference this Friday, the German technician indicated that he was ready to leave his duties to his counterpart for a day, so that he could realize one of his dreams.

I first heard about his love for Liverpool, and that he had been a fan of the club all his life. I also heard about a legends match but I’m not responsible for that so I can’t say anything about that, recalled the former Dortmund coach, before offering Eriksson to take his place. The only thing I can say is that he is absolutely welcome here and can sit in my place in my office and do my work for a whole day if he wants. This is not a problem. Having him here and showing him how this wonderful club has developed over the years, I think he would enjoy it.» A magnificent gesture which clearly demonstrates the German’s class.
