Longoria, trust is broken

Pablo Longoria is one of the main culprits for OM’s mediocre season. As president, he no longer seems to be the man for the job.

Despite a semi-final in the Europa League, Olympique de Marseille had a mediocre season. Eighth in Ligue 1, the Phocaeans will therefore not play any European Cup next season, not even the Europa Conference League.

Pablo Longoria deplored this situation, but his speech did not convince Jérôme Rothen. “He talks to us about stability, but the instability is him! Today there will still be instability because the season is so disappointing. The tree that hid the forest was the European Cup, but they were not at all at the level of an ambitious team. So we have to redo everything”explained the sports consultant on the airwaves of RMC.

Longoria must take responsibility

And the former attacking midfielder continued: “Financially, it’s complicated for OM to compete with the best teams and take good players. If there are offers, the big salaries will leave. I no longer trust Pablo Longoria. I’m very angry with him and I didn’t like his exit. He must take responsibility, he must say: ‘I am responsible for this year’s disaster’, which will leave its mark. »

During the 2023-2024 financial year, the Olympian club will have seen three coaches: Marcelino, Gattuso and Jean-Louis Gasset. Once again, the off-season promises to be hectic on the Canebière.
