Italian giants Juventus have joined the race to sign Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta this summer as they look to bolster their attack, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Bianconeri, who have struggled in front of goal this season with just 41 Serie A goals, have identified the 27-year-old as a key target for their planned summer rebuild.

Lookman, who played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last May, has been one of the club’s standout performers since his €9.35m move from RB Leipzig in 2022, amassing 43 goals and 23 assists in 96 appearances.

The Nigeria international’s impressive performances have also attracted interest from Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Arsenal, with Atalanta having previously rejected approaches last summer.

However, with just over a year remaining on his current contract, the Italian club may be forced to consider offers to avoid losing the forward on a free transfer.

While Lookman is currently valued at €55m, Atalanta could demand up to €70m for his services, reflecting his importance to the team and recent form that has seen him net eight goals and provide four assists in 12 Serie A appearances this season.

The former Everton man has particularly impressed in European competitions this season, recently scoring Atalanta’s second goal in their 3-2 UEFA Champions League defeat to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He also won three Man of The Match awards from the expanded UCL group stage this season.

Lookman is currently suffering from a knee injury, with the reigning African Footballer of The Year expected to be sidelined for two more weeks after hurting the lateral joint in his right knee during a training session.

Despite this setback, Lookman has been one of Atalanta’s standout performers this season, contributing 14 goals and six assists across all competitions as Gasperini’s side compete for the Serie A title in a three-horse race with Napoli and Inter Milan.
