Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged his former club to join Arsenal in the race to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

Isak has become a ‘primary target’ for Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window at the end of the season following another impressive campaign.

The 24-year-old Sweden international striker has conjured up 17 Premier League goals across 24 games for Eddie Howe’s side so far this term.

It is rumoured that Arsenal, along with their north London rivals Tottenham, will make £100m bids for Isak but Saha wants United to join them in their pursuit.

‘He’s a top player and he’s really raised his game this season,’ Saha told Betfred about Isak.

‘His link-up play is very good, he’s very sharp, he can create chances for himself cutting in from the left or right and he’s got a lot of flair. It’s a great combination.

‘He’s a tall guy, so he could definitely be a better target man in the box, but he can certainly play with other strikers and with the wingers Newcastle have, he’s proven how well he can link-up with them.

‘If he’s available this summer, then I believe he could be a really good addition for Manchester United.’

Isak snubbed a move to Old Trafford two years ago despite the Red Devils putting a juicy offer on the table, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Speaking last year, Jamie Carragher said that Isak ‘would be absolutely fantastic’ for Erik ten Hag’s side.

Newcastle may have to sell some players to comply with profit and sustainability rules (PSR) this summer.

That has seen a number of clubs register an interest in their big-name stars with Arsenal and Manchester City set to battle it out for Bruno Guimaraes.

Guimaraes has a release clause worth around £100m in his current Newcastle contract, although interested clubs may try to strike a deal at a lower price.
