With Napoli now accelerating their efforts to bring in Scott McTominay before the deadline, he could well feature in a Manchester United shirt for the final time today.
Advancements were made late on Thursday night after the Serie A giants made a €25 million (£21m) proposal to sign McTominay. However, this still falls below United’s £25-30m valuation.
INEOS chiefs have already proven that they won’t be doing business unless their demands are met, hence rejecting Fulham’s two offers earlier in the window. The 27-year-old is now a 52-cap Scotland international with seven years of senior experience under his belt, all of which has been with the Red Devils, so it’d be ludicrous to accept anything below his worth.

Napoli will continue to push until next Friday’s deadline, though, and with United aiming to facilitate the prospective arrival of Manuel Ugarte, there’s a concrete chance that McTominay could be lining up in red for the last time against Brighton and Hove Albion this afternoon.
Such a sentiment was echoed by journalist Samuel Luckhurst ahead of kick-off, as he said: “Scott McTominay in the MUFC squad for what could be the final time today. Napoli (or any other interested club) have six days to get a deal done.”
