LuckyChap Ups Bronte Payne To Senior VP Of Film

EXCLUSIVE: LuckyChap has promoted Bronte Payne to the role of Senior Vice President of Film. Payne has been with the company since 2018 and has been an intergral part in developing and shepherding such projects as My Old Ass, Oceans prequel and Boston Strangler.

As SVP, Payne will oversee and cultivate LuckyChap’s film slate with a focus on new and exciting voices.

“Bronte has been instrumental in LuckyChap’s growth since she joined the company in 2018,”said LuckyChap Principals in a statement. “Her promotion to SVP is well-deserved and recognizes the vital role that she has played and will continue to play finding new voices and developing and producing meaningful projects.”

Payne has served on the Denver Film Festival Jury; and she has been selected as a mentor for the Women in Film Fellowship Program this year. Payne attended the Student Symposium at Telluride Film Festival and later studied at AFI, where she received her MFA. She’s previously interned at A24 and worked for Kaplan/Perrone.

LuckyChap most recently produced the global phenomenon Barbie which was released by Warner Bros. on July 21, 2023, amassed over 1.4 Billion dollars at the box office and was the highest grossing film of 2023 and the highest grossing theatrical release in Warner Bros. history. The film received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, and the film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

LuckyChap’s first project to hit the big screen was the award-winning independent feature I, Tonya, which was nominated for three Academy Awards. Allison Janney went on to win the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. LuckyChap’s film Promising Young Woman, written and directed by Emerald Fennell was released in December 2020 and received five Academy Award nominations. The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. LuckyChap’s second collaboration with Fennell was Amazon’s film Saltburn which made its debut at the Telluride Film Festival, opened the BFI London Film Festival in October 2023 and garnered five BAFTA nominations. Most recently, LuckyChap’s critically acclaimed film My Old Ass, directed by Megan Park, debuted at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and was acquired by Amazon MGM Studios for a theatrical release in September 2024. On the television side, LuckyChap produced the hit limited series Maid for Netflix, which was nominated for three Emmy awards and quickly became one of Netflix’s most-watched limited series.
