FC Barcelona’s illustrious heritage is illuminated by the brilliance of select figures whose profound impact extends beyond the club’s confines.

One such man to have left his mark in Barcelona is none other than Luis Enrique, who plied his trade in midfield for the Catalan giants but is most remembered for leading the Catalan giants to a fabled treble in 2015 as manager.

In light of Xavi’s imminent departure, Barcelona have been keeping their eyes peeled for a worthy successor and their scouting has seen them linked with the former Barcelona boss, Luis Enrique.

Indeed, as per L’Equipe, Luis Enrique has no intention to return to Barcelona despite interest from sporting director Deco.

Enrique is presently managing PSG and has helped his side cement a first-place position in Ligue 1 with a dominant nine-point lead over Brest. Furthermore, they maintain a 2-0 lead over Real Sociedad in the Champions League round of 16.

Having taken over the Parisian outfit just last summer, understandably abandoning his project this early appears to be an infeasible route for the 53-year-old. The former Spain boss intends to stay and build the long-term project at PSG.

Moreover, reports have previously argued that PSG will not allow Enrique to join his former club, with the club satisfied with his work and eager to see him continue.

Barça’s interest in Enrique mainly stems from the fact that he has familiarity with the structure of the club and also since he has worked with many of the Blaugrana youngsters with the Spanish national team in the past.

However, with the aforementioned information arguing that his recruitment looks to be unattainable, Barcelona will simply have to keep evaluating other options, which include the likes of Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, and Roberto De Zerbi.
