Believe it or not, former Manchester United winger Luis Nani is still enjoying his playing days as a footballer, currently representing Turkish first-tier side Adana Demirspor.
Nani spent eight years at Manchester United before joining Fenerbahce in 2015 and the former Portuguese international built quite a reputation at Old Trafford.
Speaking recently, the 2016 EURO champion has made an interesting comment on current Reds winger Alejandro Garnacho, likening the Argentina star more to himself.
“When I watch Garnacho, he reminds me of myself,” Nani told The Mirror. “He even has the No.17 shirt – the same number I wore. When he changed to that number this season, he started scoring some goals, so that’s been good for him.
“He’s not afraid of taking defenders on, making the runs, making assists. He’s a very good player, he has so much time to improve his game and get stronger. He will be fantastic in the future.
“His game is more similar to mine when I was at United than Cristiano’s. He’s a very exciting player and I hope in the future he can win titles with the club and help it to be successful again.”
Garnacho made headlines again this week when he scored two goals at Chelsea, with the winger’s second strike looking like the winner.
Unfortunately, a wild ending to the game culminated in Erik ten Hag’s men conceding twice in a minute but the game was further confirmation of Garnacho’s impact.
Garnacho is one of the great success stories of the club’s youth system, having made his debut under Ralf Rangnick in 2022 and becoming a first-team regular under Erik ten Hag less than a year later.
