According to UOL Esporte, the family of Lucas Paqueta, suspected of fraudulent betting, made two money transfers to Luiz Henrique, the Botafogo striker.
Here is a new gray area surrounding Lucas Paqueta and his family. While the West Ham midfielder is still under investigation by the English FA for suspicious yellow cards (he is suspected of having provoked these warnings to win money for his relatives via betting), UOL reveals that the uncle of the former Lyon player paid money on two occasions to Luiz Henrique, the current Botafogo player.
These two transfers, of 10,000 and 30,000 Brazilian reais, or approximately 1,630 and 4,900 euros, were made in January and February 2023. Each time, this transfer of money came just a few days after a Betis Sevilla match in which the Brazilian winger received a rather rude yellow card. This happened during a 1-0 win against Getafe on January 28 (with a transfer on January 30), and during the 4-3 defeat against Celta, a match in which Luiz Henrique only played two minutes. The match took place on February 4, and the transfer was made on February 6.
Luiz Henrique denies
Paquetá’s uncle, Bruno Tolentino, who made the two transfers, admitted to having won money betting on a Luiz Henrique match. But he assures that these payments are linked to a debt he owes to Luiz Henrique, who had lent him the amounts in question.
These two transfers are listed in the English federation’s investigation into the Paqueta affair. UOL indicates that the Spanish federation, informed, did not go further. Betis, for its part, relies on the word of its former player, who claims his innocence.
