Luka Modric has revealed when he will be ready to finally hang up his boots.

Real Madrid veteran midfielder Luka Modric has said he feels fitter than ever, with retirement not in his short-term plans.

Modric scored Croatia’s winning goal against Poland on Sunday. It makes him happy and encourages him to extend his professional career as far as possible.

Modric still feels the flame

The Real Madrid midfielder turns 39 today and, when asked about his future, he said: “With me, you never know. You have to take things as they come. I can’t think about the future. When I no longer feel the flame inside me, I will retire.”

“I’m the only one who can feel that flame and make the decision,” he continued. “I’m happy to be here to help the team achieve new victories. Until then, it’s hard to predict that he’ll still be here.”
