Luka Modric, the truth comes out

Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric looks set to end his legendary career at the club this summer, 13 years after joining Los Blancos. But he has no plans to retire.

Modric has reportedly been frustrated by his lack of playing time this season, despite being promised he would remain a key player when he renewed his contract last summer. The 2018 Ballon d'Or, however, refused an offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, which could have brought him hundreds of millions of euros.

It appears he will leave this season, although The Athletic reports that the conversation between Modric and Real Madrid has not taken place. According to this source, if he leaves, it is likely that he will join another team in Europe or head to Major League Soccer in the United States, which appeals to him more than the Saudi Pro League, where are left his former teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.

Modric prefers Europe

This fits with the idea that the star wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup with Croatia, with MLS generally considered a stronger league than its Saudi counterpart.

It is unclear where the 38-year-old would go in Europe, but he is unlikely to be short of offers, having shown in recent weeks that he still has plenty of quality to offer.
