Lyon finally revolts

Olympique Lyonnais won against Olympiakos Piraeus this Thursday, for their entry into the Europa League (2-0).

Traumatized by Marseille a few days ago in an Olympico as spectacular as it was stunning (2-3), theOlympique Lyonnais set the table again by immersing itself in its Europa League campaign, with the reception of Olympiakos, a team experienced in European games.

And if the Lyonnais harbor a certain animosity with their Marseille rival, perhaps they had in mind to draw inspiration from the Marseillais, precisely, who had used this competition to get out of their crises last season. This was the challenge of the day: approaching this Europa League as a salutary path. It’s successful.

Cherki, OL’s providential man

Pierre Sage had made strong choices by concocting a system with a 4-man defense and an eleven in which Rayan Cherki was aligned from the outset. An approach which bore fruit. Since after a first act dominated in the game, the Lyonnais forced the Greek lock in the second half thanks to Cherki, whose nice shot hit the mark (1-0, 65th). The BIC Olympic champion thus scored his 2nd goal in 2 matches.

United and supported by a Groupama Stadium that lived up to the event, the Lyonnais provided the necessary ingredients to maintain this lead until the final whistle. Better, they even made the break thanks to Benrahma, who came on and was served by Zaha (2-0, 72nd). Mission accomplished.
