Lyra Valkyria recalls asking John Cena for advice, as he gears up for retirement.
The 16-time WWE Champion revealed earlier this year that he will hang up his boots in 2025. John Cena will wrestle several dates next year, with 36 separate appearances planned before the end of his career.
This looks likely to include matches at the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 41, as well as numerous others. His impending retirement has led to other wrestlers, like NXT’s Lyra Valkyria, reminiscing about their interactions with the WWE legend.
Lyra Valkyria spoke with Steve Fall for Ten Count Media about asking John Cena for advice during a talk in NXT.
Valkyria revealed how she clumsily asked Cena if the “It Factor” is something that could be learned. He replied that he thought that it could.
“It’s insane. I did get the chance to speak to him.” Lyra Valkyria said. “He spoke to the room when we were in NXT, and I asked him a question. I didn’t word it very well at the time, but I remember him understanding exactly what I meant. He said, ‘Oh, you’re asking me if ‘It’ is learnable?’ And he said, ‘Yes, I think it is.’ In terms of the entertainment factor, the star power—who better to ask that question than John Cena?
“I’ve always found him very inspiring and motivational. So, yeah, getting to speak to him was amazing. I think it’s very sad that he’s in his last year, but I’m really excited to see who will get his last match.”
Lyra Valkyria added that she thinks Cena should face Randy Orton in his final match next year.
