Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly earns double Neymar as Saudi Pro League’s 10 highest salaries revealed

Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr in January 2023 marked a significant moment in the history of the Saudi Pro League, as the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star’s move to the Middle East marked the beginning of a wave of high-profile signings. While the Portuguese failed to lead Al-Nassr to the league title in two attempts, his 50 goals in the 2023-24 campaign show that every dollar spent on him is worth it – without even considering the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s magnetic commercial appeal.

According to Capology, Ronaldo is the highest-paid player in the Saudi Pro League, with an annual salary of €200 million. That is twice as much as the league’s two other highest-paid players, Neymar and Karim Benzema, who each earn €100 million. The star triumvirate is followed by former Manchester City player Riyad Mahrez, who earns €52.5 million.

TOP 10 HIGHEST PAID PLAYERS IN THE SAUDI PRO LEAGUE

Rank Player Salary

1 Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) €200m (£168m/$217m)

2 Karim Benzema (Al Ittihad) €100m (£84m/$108m)

3 Neymar (Al Hilal) €100m (£84m/$91m)

4 Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli) €52.5m (£44m/$57m)

5 Sadio Mane (Al Nassr) €40m (£34m/$43m)

6 Kalidou Koulibaly (Al Hilal) €34.7m (£29m/£38m)

7 Aleksandar Mitrovic (Al Hilal) €25m (£84m/$27m)

8 Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (Al Hilal) €25m (£21m/$27m)

9 N’Golo Kante (Al Ittihad) €25m (£21m/$27m)

10 Aymeric Laporte (Al Nassr) €24.5m (£21m/$27m)

The players’ hefty salaries illustrate the Saudi Pro League’s commitment to becoming a destination of choice for football’s top talent. As the 2024-25 season approaches, there are a host of other stars linked with Saudi Arabia, including Casemiro, Ederson, Alisson Becker and Kevin De Bruyne.

Neymar has only been able to make five appearances for Al-Hilal in the 2023-24 campaign after his season was cut short by a horrific ACL injury. This means the Brazilian has pocketed a staggering €20 million for each of his appearances! However, he is getting closer to his return and will be eager to live up to expectations by helping his side defend the league title.
