For the big return of Riyad Mahrez to the national team, Algeria won against Equatorial Guinea (1-0), as part of the qualifications for CAN 2025.
Absent from the Algerian selection since the last African Cup of Nations at the beginning of the year, Riyad Mahrez made his big comeback this Thursday evening, against Equatorial Guinea, on the occasion of the 1era qualifying day for CAN 2025 in Morocco.
A winning return for the former Citizen. Although he missed a penalty in the first half, Mahrez provided an assist for Houssem Aouar’s opening goal (70e). At the end of the match, another former Lyon player, Amine Gouiri, made the break (90e+5), thus sealing the victory for the Fennecs (2-0).
Algeria will have to confirm against Liberia in five days.
