An intriguing report from Mundo Deportivo reveals that super-agent Jorge Mendes recently had dinner in Barcelona with the club’s president, Joan Laporta, and sporting director Deco.

The meeting reportedly covered various important topics, with several player names discussed during their conversation.

While the exact purpose of the gathering remains unclear, one key issue speculated to be on the table is the renewal of Lamine Yamal’s contract.

Barcelona are working on his renewal

It must be noted that Yamal signed a deal with the club last season. However, this agreement was made before the youngster’s rise to global recognition.

Despite his current contract running until 2026, there are ongoing discussions about updating the terms to reflect his newfound status.

The club is said to be confident about Yamal’s future, thanks to a verbal agreement between the player, Mendes, and Barça. This arrangement is expected to secure Yamal’s contract until 2030 once he reaches the age of 18.

Other topics on the agenda

In addition to Yamal, Mendes represents several other notable Barcelona players. These include Alejandro Balde, Ansu Fati, and promising young talents like Guille Fernandez and Pedro Fernandez. M

Mendes’ connections within the club ensure his influence stretches across various key figures in the Barcelona squad. Beyond his dealings with Barcelona, Mendes’ agency manages a vast network of footballers.

Some of these players have been linked to the Catalan club in recent transfer rumours. For example, goalkeeper Diogo Costa has reportedly caught Deco’s attention

Barcelona continues to keep a close eye on the goalkeeping market, especially after the departure of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

While Wojciech Szczesny has joined the squad, the possibility of adding another goalkeeper in the future remains open, indicating that Barcelona may continue to strengthen this crucial position.
