Manchester United have several players deemed available in the transfer window. As we know from previous years, it’s not always easy to get the money these players are worth due to their enormous salaries.
One of those players is Victor Lindelof, with the Swedish centre-back attracting interest from Serie A side Fiorentina. His current deal at United expires in the summer of 2025 and it doesn’t look like he will get a lot of game time this season unless he stays fit and other players suffer injuries.
Lindelof was seen in an Instagram post over the weekend hobbling on crutches. He isn’t available for selection currently which could hinder his chances of leaving before the transfer deadline day.
According to Corriere Fiorentina (via Sport Witness), there is one major obstacle holding back the Italian side from moving for the Sweden international.
Salary is an issue and a move to Fiorentina may only be possible if United are willing to pay the Swede a compensation package to tear up his deal.
That’s a big ask and I don’t see how United benefit from it. Potentially more cost than it’s worth when Lindelof could remain as a squad member for the coming season.
