The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has presented the staff and instruments of office to Oba Samuel Adegbola as the Eleruwa of Eruwaland in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state.

He made the presentation on Thursday at the Executive Chamber, Secretariat, Agodi in Ibadan, the state capital.

Recall that the Eleruwa stool had remained vacant since Ọba Adegbola, who was installed in 1998, was deposed on November 29, 2019, by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Makinde said, “I approve the appointment of Oba Adegbola as recommended by the Kingmakers for Eruwaland to return to the path of development.”

The governor reaffirmed that his administration would not interfere with the affairs of traditional institutions, urging other ruling parties to rather keep their money rather than heading to court.

He highlighted his effort to resolve the issue since 2019, admitting that “traditional rulers play vital roles in the security architecture and preservation of culture and heritage.”

In his acceptance speech, Oba Adegbola pledged to work for the reconciliation of Eruwa people and join hands with other traditional rulers for the progress of the state.
