Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday, urged Course 7 Cadet Assistant Superintendents of Police from the state to be exemplary officers and agents of positive change in the Nigerian Police Force.

He gave this advice while playing host to the 39 Cadets at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, the state capital.

Makinde emphasised the importance of integrity, discipline, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to create a safe and secure environment for residents while emphasizing that security remains a top priority in his governance agenda.

While making references to the two retired Commissioners of Police in his government, Fatai Owoseni and Sunday Odukoya, as being good ambassadors of the institution, the governor urged them to emulate the duo to earn illustrious careers in their profession.

“Let me say this, I’ve worked with great minds within the police. So, when the opportunity came for me, and my ADC told me I have to meet the cadet ASPs, I said yes! I’d like to meet them before they go into the thick of their careers.”

Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, who led the delegation, commended the governor for his continuous support for security agencies, especially the police in the state.

He said the Cadet ASPs were in the state for their mandatory internship training to acquire the necessary skills on what the police force is all about.

The CP therefore assured the governor of the commitment of the state Police Command to upholding peace and security within the state.
