Manchester United are not the only club being hit with injuries ahead of the new season, but the Reds have been handed a minor boost ahead of the Community Shield with Man City’s Jack Grealish ruled out after suffering a late injury.

According to The Sun, Grealish was in line to start against United at Wembley after being hailed by Pep Guardiola for his performances during pre-season.

Grealish didn’t have one of his best seasons last term and looked like a player who was struggling to recover from the partying he had indulged in Ibiza the summer prior. The media ignored that and focused on Marcus Rashford’s struggles instead.

The report suggests Grealish picked up an injury in training just before the all-Manchester meeting in the Community Shield.

Like Rashford, Grealish is looking to bounce back this season but he’ll miss the season’s curtain-raiser at Wembley.

City won’t need to worry too much because the Community Shield is a glorified friendly, and they can boast about having multiple options in each position.
