Manchester City will need to pay £50million to sign Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, talkSPORT understands.

Marmoush has caught the eyes of top European clubs amid a season of excellent form for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

The 25-year-old has netted 13 goals in the German top flight, which is just one less than leading scorer Harry Kane.

Another five have come in the Europa League and DFB-Pokal, with 12 assists also coming the forward's way across all competitions.

Frankfurt are reluctant to lose their star man but could be tempted to sell if his valuation is met by an interested club such as City.

As reported in November, Bayern Munich have Marmoush on their shortlist of potential successors to the 31-year-old Kane.

Arsenal have also been linked with the Egypt international, but such a potential signing has raised question marks.

The Gunners are in a third consecutive Premier League title challenge and will likely strengthen their squad in the January transfer window.

However, Sun journalist Will Pugh wonders whether Marmoush would be the answer for the title-chasing Gunners.

Pugh said on Hawksbee and Jacobs: "25-year-old Egyptian striker, in decent form this year.

"He's come out already and done the classic one and said, 'I'm not even thinking about that, there's always speculation.

"'I couldn't even tell you what I want to do for the future, all I'm going to do is commit to Eintracht and do my best for as long as I'm a player here.'

"Liverpool, PSG [Paris Saint-Germain] and AC Milan also fancy him but again, it's this perennial problem for Arsenal, the number nine position.

"It feels to me, I don't know what you two think, it feels to me that if they want to get over the line, they need to make a real elite level signing in that position.

"With all due respect, he's got some good numbers, but he's playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, it doesn't really feel like that sort of level of quality Arsenal should be going for."

Marmoush would join Erling Haaland as another City striker should he sign for them ahead of their speculated rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola's side may also be eyeing reinforcements this month following an opening five months of struggle in the Premier League.

City are sixth in the table and 12 points behind leaders Liverpool even though they have won their last two matches.

However, the reigning champions are just two points adrift of the top four as they prepare for the second half of the season.
