Man City will sit down with Phil Foden to discuss a new contract this summer as the 23-year-old wants to become a top earner at the Manchester club.

The Englishman only signed an extension at the Etihad Stadium in 2022, which keeps him at City until 2027. However, the main purpose of a new contract is to increase his wages as Foden has become a major part of the current Man City team, reports Football Insider.

The versatile star has been a standout performer for City this season, scoring 18 times and providing 10 assists to his teammates across 40 appearances.

Foden currently earns £225,000-a-week at the Etihad Stadium but the England star wants to be closer to the club’s top earner, Kevin De Bruyne.

Phil Foden wants a new contract at Man City

Does Phil Foden deserve a new Man City contract?

Foden has been a rotation player for Man City in recent seasons and never seemed to be able to hold down a starting spot in Pep Guardiola’s team. However, that has changed this season.

The 23-year-old has performed to a level where he is being considered for the Player of the Season award in the Premier League. The talented star has finally hit the level many people expected him to reach and he will be hoping for a big end to the season so he can cement a new contract.

Euro 2024 will also be a big motivation for the Man City star this summer as fans will expect him to have a big role in the tournament for England given the campaign he has put together for his club.
