Porto defender Wendell, who is an experienced left-back, might be a target for Manchester United and Arsenal if he becomes available for a move.

According to Dean Jones on GiveMeSport, the two Premier League clubs are interested in Porto’s left-back Wendell.

If the Portuguese team is unable to come to an agreement over his future, the 30-year-old international player from Brazil may be placed up for sale.

According to Jones, who made this suggestion to GiveMeSport, Man United and Arsenal may sign Brazilian defender Wendell for cheap.

“Juve have started looking at Wendell and if Porto start to show any openness to selling him then I wonder if he could come into view for the likes of Man United and maybe even Arsenal, who saw the job he did on Saka recently. This is a player with really big experience, playing all over the world in huge competitions and at competitive teams,” Jones said.

“He would be pretty cheap and from conversations I have had around United and Arsenal the mindset and wisdom of new players is going to be key because both of those sides really want players that can help elevate their younger talent. Would you want him as a starter every single week? Maybe not, but his contract is up in 2025 and when you are looking for players in a squad he fits for me.”

Man United and Arsenal to fight for Wendell?

Man United interest in Wendell makes sense

Man United, who have faced trouble in the left-back position due to Luke Shaw’s fitness issues, could benefit from signing the Brazilian left-back.

As far as the Gunners are concerned, Jakub Kiwior has slotted in well at the left-back position but they have options of Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko already at the club so their interest in Wendell, if there is any, is surprising.

Arsenal could compete with Man United for his signature

Wendell, 30, has just recently made his debut for Brazil, although he participated in all of the team’s games during the most recent international break, including matches against Spain and England.

As he approaches the last year of his contract with FC Porto and considers leaving, the 30-year-old Brazilian international may be open to a fresh challenge. It remains to be seen who of Arsenal and Manchester United enter the picture.
