Manchester United and Tottenham reportedly showed an interest in Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba last year and it seems he’s attracting the eye of top clubs again this summer.

Posting on X, formerly Twitter, Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Tapsoba’s situation, stating that Man Utd and Spurs looked at the Burkina Faso international a year ago, and he perhaps hints that they’re among numerous other suitors again at the moment.

See below for Romano’s post in full, with the Italian journalist claiming that clubs will be scouting Tapsoba in today’s game between Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, though it remains to be seen who else could be involved in the race for his signature…

??? Scouts from three top clubs will be in attendance today in Dortmund to follow Edmond Tapsoba again, as he's been monitored for months.

Tapsoba has impressed in the Bundesliga, helping Leverkusen win the title this season as part of this hugely impressive Xabi Alonso side.

The 25-year-old might now be one to watch on the market this summer as one imagines Leverkusen might find it difficult to keep their star names.

Tapsoba transfer: Man United and Spurs could do with signing the Leverkusen CB

Tapsoba could surely be a good fit for top clubs like United and Tottenham next season, with both these sides surely in need of strengthening if they want to improve on their performances this term.

MUFC in particular are looking unlikely to have it in them to sneak into the top four, while Spurs might still have an outside chance.

Edmond Tapsoba to Manchester United?

Tapsoba would surely relish the chance to play in the Premier League and try to help get these two big clubs back to where they want to be, though it will also be interesting to see if any other elite sides around Europe make a serious play for him.

Romano spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside about United’s plans in defence this summer in his latest Daily Briefing column.
