Journalist Dean Jones claims that Manchester United are interested in signing Martin Zubimendi, an Arsenal midfield target, from Real Sociedad this summer.
Man United are probably going to bolster their midfield in the upcoming transfer window.
After a second season marred by injuries, there are rumours that Casemiro may be departing the team. In light of his disappointing loan period with the Red Devils thus far, Sofyan Amrabat may possibly return to Fiorentina.
Speaking to Givemesport, Jones indicated that United are interested in Zubimendi, but he is more likely to select Arsenal. A new holding midfielder might be a major priority for the Red Devils. He said:
“I’ve even heard that Man Utd like Zubimendi. I’m not sure he would choose that over Arsenal, but they have a degree of interest in him.”
In his first season with the Red Devils, Casemiro was outstanding. Although United’s choice to lure him away from Real Madrid was praised, his second season with the team has been disastrous.
The Brazilian has struggled to avoid injuries and has shown subpar performances while on the field. The former Porto player will be 32 this month, and United may seriously consider offloading him in the summer.
Regaining part of the transfer price they paid for him would be possible if they sell him to a club in Saudi Arabia. They would be looking to the transfer market for a quality replacement and Zubimendi seems like the perfect match.
Zubimendi would be a better option than Casemiro in the United mifield. He excels when the ball is at his feet, can win challenges and typically makes many ball recoveries in a game. The main obstacle for United may be Arsenal’s interest in him; they have been attempting to sign him for a while.
