According to reports, Crystal Palace may consider bids above £50 million for defender Marc Guehi, who is being pursued by several teams, such as Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
After moving from Chelsea to the Eagles in the summer of 2021, the 23-year-old has made 108 appearances in all competitions and established himself as a Selhurst Park first team regular.
Gareth Southgate, the manager of England, has given Guehi nine senior international caps subsequently, including his debut in March 2022, in recognition of his outstanding performances at Palace.
A number of Premier League teams are reportedly interested in Palace’s No. 6, who is currently out due to a knee injury. He is expected to be among the most sought-after defenders before the start of next season.
Guehi is expected to face an unclear future at Selhurst Park and will enter the final two years of his contract this summer.
The Telegraph claims that Guehi will probably depart Palace before the start of the next season, and the team has already started to assemble a list of potential centre-backs.
Marc Guehi of Crystal PalaceAccording to the report, potential buyers of Guehi will have to pay more than the £50 million that Manchester United paid for former Eagles defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019.
Guehi has lately been linked to both Man United and Liverpool, however it’s thought that the former’s interest may be contingent on Dan Ashworth’s appointment as the team’s new sporting director.
In light of the uncertainties surrounding the long-term futures of Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire, and Jonny Evans, the Red Devils have decided to make the acquisition of a new central defender their top priority this summer.
Due to Joel Matip’s season-ending knee injury and the possibility that he may have played his final game for the team before his contract expires this summer, Liverpool’s interest in Guehi coincides with uncertainty surrounding Matip’s future at Anfield.
Other Premier League teams Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, who have previously shown interest in the centre-back, might compete with Man United and Liverpool for Guehi’s signature.
