Old Trafford, or the Theatre of Dreams as it’s sometimes referred to, is as synonymous with Man United as Sir Alex Ferguson, Sir Matt Busby, George Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton.
The famous old ground is intertwined with the history of the Red Devils.
Whilst it would’ve been remiss of INEOS not to explore other options in terms of stadiums, ask any Man United fan and the chances are their response would be the same; redevelop Old Trafford.
Generations of families have supported the club from the Stretford End, some of the club’s best-ever victories and most iconic moments have come upon the hallowed turf.
Who can forget Sir Alex and Brian Kidd going nuts as Steve Bruce headed an injury time winner against Sheffield Wednesday by way of example.
News that INEOS have already sounded out investment partners at home and abroad to help with the redevelopment of Old Trafford (via the Daily Mail, h/t Sky Sports) will be music to the fan’s ears.

It had been thought that a move away to a new, purpose-built ground could be on the cards, but that idea now appears to have been shelved.
Even if the capacity at the famous old ground can’t be increased – as it does have a railway line passing right behind one of its stands – Old Trafford certainly deserves a makeover.
That now seems closer to becoming a reality in the not-too-distant future.
