Manchester United have been informed that they could be committing an error that Liverpool could take advantage of.
With 10 goals and six assists in his 27 games this season, Joshua Zirkzee has been establishing himself in Italy’s Serie A, but it’s possible that the Old Trafford team have lost interest in the striker.
According to the Daily Express, due to Zirkzee’s outstanding performances, he is being considered by a number of Premier League teams, including Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
However, United emerged as a more likely destination, with Sport1 reporting that Erik ten Hag is reportedly interested in signing the 22-year-old to strengthen his attacking line.
The Red Devils’ interest appears to have waned, according to recent reports from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany.
This might mean that other Premier League teams will have the opportunity to move forward at the end of the current season. Liverpool ought to be among them.
Thiago Motta, Zirkzee’s manager at Bologna, has praised the Dutch forward and compared him to Ronaldinho.
“He (Zirkzee) said that his idols are Ibrahimović and Batistuta, who are two excellent players.
“Seeing him day to day, he reminds me of the Ronaldinho I played with at Barcelona, but I cannot compare him to anyone. He is Joshua, he is special, he enjoys his football and above all works very hard in training.
“Since the first day of pre-season, he has always been the first to arrive at the camp. He has become a leader and it’s all to his credit. We just need to keep accompanying him, because he is certainly on the right path.”
Zirkzee only made the move from Bayern Munich to Bologna in 2022 after rising through the ranks with the Bundesliga team.
His value has skyrocketed, and Bologna, who paid just under £8.5 million/€10 million for him, are reportedly rumored to be seeking close to £43 million/€50 million this summer.
With several Premier League clubs looking for a new striker in the summer, Zirkzee could be coming to England to play for one of the top clubs.
