Manchester United are interested in signing the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

According to a report from Uruguay Fichajes, the 22-year-old defensive midfielder is a priority target for manager Erik ten Hag and an offer of around €35 million could be submitted to Paris Saint-Germain.

The South American is highly rated across Europe and he has a bright future ahead of himself. He was a key player for Sporting CP during his time in the Portuguese league. There is no doubt that he has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and he could be an important signing for Manchester United.

The Red Devils need to bring in a quality defensive midfielder this summer. Casemiro was quite underwhelming with his performances last season and Manchester United need an upgrade in that position. Ugarte could form a solid partnership with Kobbie Mainoo at the heart of the Manchester United midfield.

Manuel Ugarte seems tailor-made for Man United

The 22-year-old is still quite young with a lot of room for improvement. Signing him for €35 million could represent a major bargain in the long term.

The report states that the player would be excited to move to the Premier League this summer and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can secure an agreement with PSG now. The 22-year-old is not a key player for the French giants and therefore, they could be willing to sanction his departure for a lucrative proposal.

Ugarte seems like the ideal fit for the Manchester United midfield. He will help shield the back four and break up opposition attacks. His arrival would not only help Manchester United tighten up defensively, he would also allow the creative players to operate with more freedom.
