Luke Shaw is a doubt for Manchester United’s next Premier League game against Luton Town on Sunday.

The England international has endured an injury-stricken season after missing 16 matches at the end of last year after suffering a muscular problem, and unfortunately, despite recently returning, the 28-year-old is expected to be sidelined again after he withdrew at half-time during United’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa last weekend.

Speaking to reporters ahead of this weekend’s clash at Kenilworth Road, Erik Ten Hag, as quoted by Manchester Evening News, said: “Luke is doubtful for the weekend but we are positive he can make it. He came out as a precaution, it was the right direction. We work until Sunday.”

Fellow full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka will definitely miss this weekend’s game after he injured himself during one of last week’s training sessions.

“Aaron Wan-Bissaka will take some weeks because he picked up another injury in training last week,” Ten Hag added.

Shaw and Wan-Bissaka’s probable absences will need to be carefully managed with Diogo Dalot the only outright replacement. Victor Lindelof filled in at left-back following Shaw’s withdrawal at Villa Park but the Sweden international struggled up against Leon Bailey, so this weekend’s game against Rob Edwards’ newly promoted Hatters is certain to no longer be a formality.
