After four victories in a row, Manchester United was stopped dead in its tracks by Fulham (1-2), Saturday at Old Trafford, and now finds itself eight points behind 4th, Aston Villa, who won at the same time against Nottingham. (4-2).

The “reMUtada” may not take place… Manchester United remained on four consecutive victories in the Premier League, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring each time, and hoped to get ever closer to the top 4 qualifying for the Champions League . But Erik ten Hag’s team, deprived of its Danish center forward (for several weeks), foundered at home against poorly ranked Fulham on Saturday afternoon at Old Trafford (1-2).

The Red Devils were unrecognizable in front of their home crowd, with André Onana repeatedly saving his team against the Cottagers’ attempts. The Londoners ended up opening the scoring through Calvin Bassey (65th). Another central defender equalized for the locals, Harry Maguire shaking the net in the 89th minute, offering great hope to the Theater of Dreams, but Alex Iwobi gave victory to Fulham at the end of added time (97th).

Aston Villa dreams big

Man United is collapsing at the worst of times since the next championship weekend offers a derby in the lair of the Cityzens… Raphaël Varane and his teammates, still sixth in the standings, are now eight points behind Aston Villa, who beat Nottingham Forest at the same time (4-2). We may have the English surprise qualifier in C1!

Unai Emery’s team put on a show in the first half with an entry goal from Ollie Watkins (4th, for his 14th goal in the PL) then a double from the incredible Douglas Luiz (29th and 39th). Leon Bailey scored his team’s fourth goal (61st), while Forest reignited the suspense thanks to Moussa Niakhaté (45th+5) and Morgan Gibbs-White (48th). The Villans are five points ahead of Tottenham, who are not playing this weekend.
