AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is reportedly Erik ten Hag’s “top target” ahead of this summer’s transfer season.
Man Utd are undergoing significant internal changes as Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner, is having an instant influence.
Dan Ashworth is being considered for the director of football position at Manchester United, while Omar Berrada was lured away from Man City to take over as the team’s new CEO.
Man United are expected to make a number of signings in the summer, and Reijnders has been chosen as a “priority” signing, according to Football Transfers.
In a summer transfer valued over £16 million, the 25-year-old Netherlands international joined Serie A powerhouse AC Milan, moving from AZ Alkmaar.
This season, Reijnders has usually played as a defensive midfielder, although he has occasionally seen action as an attacking midfielder. In his 33 appearances for AC Milan this season in all competitions, he has two goals and three assists.
Reijnders is seen to be crucial to Ten Hag since players like Christian Eriksen, Sofyan Amrabat, and Casemiro are either reaching the end of their careers or have unknown futures, while promising youngster Kobbie Mainoo needs time to establish himself in the first squad at just 18 years old.
Due to Reijnders’ excellent form at Milan this season and the fact that his contract is set to expire in 2028, sources indicate that the AC Milan administration would not consider bids for the player that fall below €60 million.
The Red Devils have won four straight Premier League games and are undefeated in 2024. They are now only four points behind Aston Villa, who are in fourth place.
