Manchester United are interested in signing another Chelsea player this summer.

The Red Devils signed Mason Mount last summer but the move has not worked well for both the parties.

Mount suffered injury issues last season but even when he was fit, he failed to make a positive impact on the team’s results.

The midfielder could now get reunited with his Chelsea teammate as Man United are interested in a move for Ben Chilwell, according to The Byline.

Chilwell was named the vice-captain of the club at the beginning of last season but he suffered fitness issues again and his season was hugely affected by injuries.

The English left-back has been unlucky with his injury issues that it is almost surprising why Man United are interested in him.

The club already have an injury prone left-back in Luke Shaw and signing another one makes no sense.

Perhaps the reason behind the interest in the Chelsea defender is the uncertain nature of Shaw and the club’s lack of belief in Tyrell Malacia.

Chilwell was replaced in the Chelsea XI last season by Marc Cucurella, who performed admirably for the Blues in the last few months of the season under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea’s interest in Riccardo Calafiori is now making sense as they are ready to cash in on Chilwell.

Man United want a new left-back this summer

However, it remains to be seen if United are serious with their interest in Chilwell and whether they want to reunite Mount with his Chelsea mate at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are getting closer every day to complete the signing of Bologna attacker Joshua Zirkzee while talks are continuing with Matthijs de Ligt’s entourage for a move from Bayern Munich.

Erik ten Hag is set to be heavily backed by the club this summer and he would have no excuse now if his team performs poorly next season.
